Spotlight on Nicole Aldridge-Henry: From Jamaica to NY Courtroom; Now Mentoring the Next Generation

We’re proud to spotlight a compelling feature about Nicole Aldridge-Henry, a partner at Black Marjieh & Sanford, recently published in New York Metro Super Lawyers magazine. The article provides an in-depth look at Nicole’s extraordinary journey, which spans from her childhood in Kingston, Jamaica, to her influential roles as both an attorney and a mentor here in New York.

Nicole’s passion for law was ignited at the age of five while engrossed in episodes of Matlock aired on Jamaica’s sole TV station. Her journey then took her to the U.S. for college, where she was confronted with challenges that would shape her perspective on identity and the importance of advocacy. Nicole elaborates on the culture shock she experienced, saying, “Standing up for what I believed in became something I had to do on a daily basis.”

Another standout aspect of Nicole’s story is her dedication to the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Program in the Bronx. Here, Nicole does more than just impart legal wisdom; she empowers young Bronx middle schoolers to believe in themselves. As she puts it, “You’re also teaching them how to have the confidence to do it.”

“It’s an honor to coach these kids, and hopefully open this door and turn this light on for them to say, ‘Never let anybody tell you you’re not good enough to do something. You don’t ask for acceptance, you demand it. You kick in the door.’”

For the full account of her inspiring journey and her unyielding dedication to mentoring the next generation, we highly encourage you to read the full article.

Nicole’s story serves as inspiration to us all at Black Marjieh & Sanford and is a vivid example of the impactful work that can be achieved when one is committed to both their profession and their community.
